Free Classified Ads in Switzerland: Where Posting Is Actually Free in 2026

"Post for free" is a promise plenty of platforms make – but anyone who has ever placed a classified ad knows the small print: the ad is free, yet visibility costs extra. "Bump" fees, premium placements, gallery options. Time for an honest overview: where in Switzerland can you actually post free ads in 2026 – and which platform suits which purpose?

The big generalists: tutti.ch and anibis.ch

tutti.ch and anibis.ch both belong to the Swiss Marketplace Group and have become very similar since their joint revamp in 2024. Private classified ads are free in most categories, the reach is huge, and you can sell almost anything here.

The flip side: precisely because of that scale, an individual ad sinks fast. New listings push yours down by the minute, and the temptation to pay for promoted placement is part of the business model. If you're selling a bike for 300 francs, that might be worth it. For things you want to give away, paying for visibility obviously makes no sense.

Facebook Marketplace and free-stuff groups

Free and enormous – but unstructured. Marketplace throws sales, commercial listings and giveaways into one big jumble, and in the "free to collect" groups, pure chance decides who sees your offer at the right minute. You also need a Facebook account, and communication runs through an endless stream of "Is this still available?" messages.

markt.ch and other classifieds portals

Alongside the big players there are smaller portals like markt.ch, where private ads are also free. Perfectly fine in principle – but less reach than the big names, and the same underlying problem: everything ends up in one long list, sorted by date, and your ad ages in the race for visibility.

The giveaway specialist: Pikitup

And this is where we come in – with a deliberately different approach. Pikitup is built exclusively for free items. That changes more than you might think:

Posting is free. Full stop. No premium options, no bump fees, no sales commission – on a platform where everything is free, there would be nothing to take a commission on anyway. Photo, description, done.

A map instead of a list. Your listing doesn't vanish into an endless feed; it appears as a pin on the live map. Anyone searching in your neighbourhood sees your offer – whether it went up five minutes or three days ago. Visibility depends on location, not on your wallet.

Only serious takers. People browsing a giveaway platform are specifically looking for free items to collect. You don't haggle over prices (there aren't any) and you don't explain for the tenth time that you don't ship.

By the way, you'll find a detailed comparison of all Swiss giveaway platforms here.

Which platform for which purpose?

The honest answer: it depends on what you're trying to do.

  • You want to sell something? tutti or anibis – that's what they're built for, and private ads cost nothing there.
  • You want to give something away? Pikitup – the most direct route to people looking for exactly that, without your listing drowning in a sales feed.
  • You want maximum reach and have time? Combine: giveaway items on Pikitup plus a Facebook group never hurts.

Not sure whether selling is even worth it? For many everyday items the answer is sobering – the hours spent on photos, price haggling and no-shows eat up the proceeds. We've run the numbers in detail: Giving away vs. selling – what's actually worth it?

How to post your free ad on Pikitup

  1. Take a photo – daylight is all you need.
  2. A title and two honest sentences about the condition.
  3. Confirm your approximate location (your neighbourhood is enough; you only share the exact address with the person collecting).
  4. Publish – your item is instantly visible on the map.

The whole thing takes less than two minutes. And for how to word your listing so it gets picked up fast, read our tips for successful free listings.

Posting free ads should be exactly that: free, simple and without small print. That's precisely why we built Pikitup.
