Your privacy matters to us. Here you can find out in plain language what data we collect, why – and what we deliberately do not collect.

  • Database and login are hosted on servers in Europe (Supabase).
  • No data trading, no spam, no hidden costs.

1. Responsible body

PIKITUP is a private, non-commercial project. Its goal is to encourage reuse instead of throwing things away – not to make money from your data.

2. What data we collect

Account data: On registration: email address and password (encrypted). Optional: display name and profile picture.

Item data: Title, description, category, photos and location of items you publish.

Usage data: Information about how the platform is used (e.g. pages viewed and clicks), collected via the services listed in section 4. For logged-in users this data can be linked to the account.

Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information – standard with every website visit.

3. How we use your data

4. Cookies, analytics & reach measurement

For operation we use technically necessary cookies required for the platform to function:

  • Session cookie for login
  • Preference cookie for the theme (light/dark)

In addition, we use the following services to improve the platform and measure its reach. We disclose them here in full:

  • PostHog (hosted in Europe): product analytics – page views, clicks, heatmaps and session recordings (replays of interactions to identify usability problems). Passwords are masked.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google, Europe): aggregated traffic and reach statistics.
  • Meta Pixel / Facebook (Meta, Europe): measuring the effectiveness of our occasional social media posts.

These services may set cookies and transfer data to the USA. You can disable collection at any time via your browser settings, the "Do Not Track" feature or an ad blocker.

5. Data sharing & service providers

We do not sell your data.

Your data is only shared with the following service providers, insofar as this is necessary to operate the platform, or where we are legally obliged to do so:

For services located in the USA, data may be transferred to the USA. You can disable collection via your browser settings, "Do Not Track" or an ad blocker.

6. Your rights

Under the Swiss Data Protection Act (DSG) and the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Access: You can request information about your stored data at any time.
  • Correction: Incorrect data can be corrected upon your request.
  • Deletion: You can request the deletion of your data («right to be forgotten»).
  • Data portability: You can receive your data in a common format.

7. Data security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data:

  • SSL/TLS encryption
  • Encrypted passwords
  • Regular backups
  • Access control

8. Changes

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy as needed. The current version is always available on this page. We will inform you of significant changes by email.
