For municipalities & organisations

A free resource for your residents

PIKITUP helps people give away usable things instead of throwing them out – on a simple map, for all of Switzerland, completely free. This page has everything you need to recommend PIKITUP to your residents.

What PIKITUP does for your municipality

Many items in perfect condition end up being disposed of simply because they do not find a new owner in time. PIKITUP makes giving away as easy as throwing away: anyone with something to give places a pin on the map – anyone looking sees what is available for free nearby.

This directly supports the waste-reduction and circular-economy goals many municipalities pursue – with no effort and no cost to the municipality. A single link on your waste or sustainability page is enough for your residents to find the platform.

Why is it free? Who is behind it?

PIKITUP grew out of a simple conviction: what is still good should be passed on, not thrown away. The platform is built and funded by David Novotny – a private individual here in Switzerland – out of a genuine interest in neighbourly help and less waste.

There is no company and no business model behind it: no ads on the listings, no fees, no data trading. The service is free and will stay free. There is a real, reachable person behind PIKITUP – if you have questions or concerns, simply write to hello@pikitup.ch and I will answer personally.
